Northern Cape motorists driving in areas affected by heavy rains have been warned to exercise caution due to wet and slippery conditions.
No incidents have been reported yet, but drivers are cautioned against crossing heavily flooded roads and speeding.
Heavy rains in some areas of the Namaqua district are expected to subside only in the early hours of Thursday.
Provincial Roads and Public Works department spokesperson Zandisile Luphahla says the Northern Cape Department of Roads and Public Works is urging motorists and visitors to the province to exercise caution, following sustained and heavy rainfall that has impacted several routes across the Namaqua and Frances Baard Districts.
Luphahla adds that gravel roads and various routes have become dangerously wet and slippery, increasing the risk of accidents.
