A fresh round of allegations has placed former police minister Bheki Cele back under the spotlight after an explosive testimony by tenderpreneur Vusimuzi Cat Matlala, who told MPs he handed Cele R500,000 in cash before cutting contact when the requests wouldn't stop.
The claims surfaced during a sitting of parliament's ad hoc committee at Kgosi Mampuru prison, where Matlala is being held on an attempted murder charge.
His testimony adds a new layer to ongoing questions about political relationships, policing accountability and the network surrounding major SAPS contracts.
