DA leader John Steenhuisen says hes not seeking re-election at the partys elective congress in April because he has accomplished his mission and needs to focus on addressing the foot-and-mouth FMD disease.
He confirmed widespread reports that hes quitting the leadership race at a media address on Wednesday 4 February.
