Lead investigator in the former Bafana Bafana captain Senzo Meyiwa murder case, Brigadier Bongani Gininda, says if accused number one Muzi Sibiya was repeatedly assaulted as he alleges, he would have suffered serious injuries.
Five men are on trial at the High Court in Pretoria for Meyiwa's murder in 2014.
Sibiya alleges he was assaulted by the police officers at various locations following his arrest in May 2020.
The alleged assault is said to have taken place at Diepkloof police station, where he was allegedly kicked and suffocated before being forced to sign a confession statement.
Responding to Defence Counsel Adv. Charles Mnisi, Gininda says he was not present during the alleged assault, however, Sibiya would have had injuries if he had been kicked by officers wearing the military boots.
