The MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison in Mpumalanga, Jackie Macie, expressed concern over the ongoing violent crimes reported in certain parts of the province.
This despite the province recording a 4.5 decrease in overall crime statistics for the fourth quarter of 2025/2026 that were released in Mbombela.
The MEC says the Bushbuckridge area remains their core concern following the recent spate of gun-related crimes. A number of these cases, including the recent murder of alleged rhino poaching kingpin Joseph Nyalunga, remain unresolved. Macie says they are working around the clock to make breakthroughs.
