Former Independent Police Investigative Directorate IPID head Robert McBride has accused the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi of attempting to interfere with the entitys investigations on multiple occasions.
McBride says the investigations involved some senior SAPS officials, including the former Acting Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane, whom he alleges Mkhwanazi has close ties with.
McBride is currently testifying before Parliaments Ad Hoc Committee in Cape Town, which is examining national security concerns.
