An Operation Restore raid at a residence in Goodwood on Sunday afternoon turned into a major drug bust when police discovered tik and heroin worth over R50 million after seizing an initial six kilograms of heroin, reports Cape town Etc .
According to police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, the operation came in response to information received about criminal activity taking place at the property in Molteno Street.
During the search, the members discovered and seized six kilograms of heroin, which was found in a cupboard in one of the rooms. The occupant of the room, a 32-year-old Tanzanian national, was arrested and charged for dealing in heroin with an estimated street value of almost R1 million, said Pojie.
Extending the search to another bedroom in the residence, police uncovered a further 100 grams of heroin with an estimated value of approximately R16 000. A 28-year-old foreign national was subsequently arrested for possession of drugs.
While processing the suspects, the members received further information about more drugs hidden at the residence, added Pojie.
