A minibus taxi driver, who allegedly threatened a traffic officer with a firearm before fleeing the scene in Hout Bay, Cape Town, was taken into custody within four hours on Sunday morning, reports Cape town Etc .
According to City of Cape Towns Safety and Security MMC JP Smith, the officer was doing enforcement operations within the area at the time of the incident.
While doing enforcement operations within Hout Bay, the driver of a minibus taxi threatened a traffic officer with a firearm and fled the scene on Sunday, said Smith in a Facebook post .
The officer immediately went off in pursuit, but the suspect went into hiding.
Surveillance was set up on all strategic points in the area after additional personnel were dispatched and an area-wide search commenced. Law Enforcements Safety and Security Investigative Unit SSIU were also deployed to the scene and coordinated the operation.
