Liverpool's pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak remains alive, with the Premier League champions closely monitoring developments as they consider a renewed approach for the Swedish forward.

Despite having a record-breaking 110 million offer rejected earlier this month, sources close to both clubs suggest the Reds have not entirely ruled out a second bid especially if Newcastle secure a replacement in the coming weeks.

Softfootall earlier reported that the Magpies are embroiled in a fierce transfer battle with Manchester United for the Signing of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko and should Newcastle get their hands on Sesko, they might soften their stance on Isak.

The 25-year-old Isak is understood to be keen on a move to Anfield, having already communicated his openness to the switch following a previous inquiry by Liverpool's sporting director, Richard Hughes. That initial informal contact happened two weeks ago and sparked what has since become one of the window's most closely watched transfer stories.

Transfrer Expert Fabrixio Romano reported via his official X handle that the Reds have not yet given up hope for the Swedish international, and they are ready to put in a second bid should Newcastle encourage a renegotiation.

He wrote:

Newcastle, who originally signed Isak from Real Sociedad for around 60 million in 2022, have reportedly placed a staggering 150 million valuation on their star forward an amount that would set a new British transfer record. For now, club officials insist the player is not for sale, but internal discussions suggest that could change if a suitable replacement is signed.

The Magpies are actively exploring alternatives, with RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Brentford's Yoane Wissa on their shortlist. However, Newcastle have so far struggled to make headway, missing out on several other targets, including Liam Delap, Hugo Ekitike, Bryan Mbeumo, and Joo Pedro.

Isak's absence from Newcastle's pre-season tour raised eyebrows. Though the club cited a minor thigh injury, it has since emerged that the forward is training with former club Real Sociedad and is exploring his options this summer. He still has three years left on his contract, but theres been no movement toward a renewal.

While Liverpool are not expected to make a second bid imminently, the door has not been closed-especially if Newcastle's recruitment efforts finally bear fruit.
