AC Milan have made their move for Young Boys defender Zachary Athekame, tabling an official bid worth 7 million as they look to bolster their options at right-back ahead of the new season.
Softfootball understands that the 20-year-old Swiss international has been on Milan's radar for some time, and according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between both clubs are already underway. The player is believed to be open to the transfer and keen on testing himself in Serie A.

Athekame enjoyed a breakout season with Young Boys in 2024/25, making 44 appearances across all competitions. Young Boys, however, are holding out for a fee closer to 10 million, which leaves a small gap to be bridged before a deal can be finalised. Sources close to the Swiss club say they value Athekame's potential and are in no rush to sell without receiving a suitable offer.
Milan had previously explored other right-back targets, including Rennes' Guela Doue, but his 30 million valuation proved prohibitive.
