The legal representative of one of the accused in the assassination of former African National Congress ANC Youth League Secretary-General Sindiso Magaqa has recused himself, resulting in the case being postponed to next month.

The recusal comes after the state made an application for the lawyer to recuse himself from the case, citing a conflict of interest.

Magaqa was murdered in 2017 with two other councillors, for allegedly being vocal critics of how the Umzimkhulu Municipality used the finances for the refurbishment of a Memorial Hall.
