As the sun began to dip over the Eastern Cape countryside on Wednesday afternoon, emergency crews gathered at a dairy farm near Humansdorp where a tense rescue operation was unfolding around a confined milk cooling tank, Cape townEtc reports.
The operation, highlighted in a statement issued by the South African Police Service , ultimately ended in heartbreak after two dairy farm workers were recovered from inside the tank and declared dead at the scene.
According to authorities, the incident happened at around 4:29pm on 20 May when police search-and-rescue teams joined forces with Humansdorp EMS, EMS Training teams and the Humansdorp Fire Rescue Unit.
