The Gauteng Transport Inspectorate GTI and the Road Traffic Management Corporation RTMC is clamping down on lawlessness and non-compliance on the roads within the province.
In January, they ran a stop-and-search operations on key routes including the City of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni, and Tshwane, focusing on public and scholar transport hotspots.
They impounded 148 vehicles in the three metros and pulled more than 200 minibus taxis off the road after failing roadworthiness checks.
