Businesses and motorists in Cape Towns CBD are being advised to plan ahead on Tuesday afternoon as several roads around City Hall will be partially and fully closed to accommodate a City of Cape Town-hosted event, reports Cape town Etc .
The Freedom of the City event will take place between 5pm and 7pm at Cape Town City Hall on Tuesday, 20 January 2026, with traffic disruptions expected in the surrounding precinct throughout the day.
According to the Citys notice, there will be No Parking and No Stopping signs erected in and around the City Hall from 5am to 5:30pm on affected routes, while partial road closures will be implemented in the City Hall precinct.
