The Free State Education Department, together with the Department of Community Safety and Transport , has developed an app to monitor school transport.
This as a measure to regulate and boost scholar transport safety in the province. Scholar transport safety recently came under scrutiny after 14 learners died in a collision in the Vaal.
Provincial Education Spokesperson, Howard Ndaba says, last year principals and district officials were trained and made aware of how to identify vehicles and drivers not complying with legislation , and to immediately report any vehicle that is not in good condition on the app.
