Former Chelsea and Manchester United player Nemanja Matic has agreed to join Serie A side Sassuolo on one year deal after his contract with Lyon was terminated.
The Serbian international already has Serie A experience, having played for AS Roma in the 2023 -24 season before moving to French side Rennes. His most recent club was French outfit Lyon, where he made 37 appearances last season, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist.
The 37-year-old was as an integral part of the Ligue 1 team last season, but his contract was not renewed amid the clubs financial struggles. Matic was also motivated to leave due to his reduced playing time in European competition
