Crystal Palace looked like they had finally broken their Nottingham Forest hoodoo, but Callum Hudson-Odoi's sharp second-half finish meant the points were shared in a lively 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park. There was an extra edge to this meeting after the pre-season debate over which club would represent England in Europe. Forest, who ultimately claimed Palace's Europa League spot, nearly landed the first blow when Chris Wood volleyed narrowly wide from a Morgan Gibbs-White cross.
Palace responded through Jean-Philippe Mateta, who stung the palms of Matz Sels before Oliver Glasner's side finally broke through. Daniel Munoz whipped in a superb delivery, and Ismaila Sarr met it sweetly to guide the ball into the far corner. Palace almost doubled their lead before halftime as Marc Guehi's header kissed the outside of the post.
