Arsenal's push at the top of the Premier League lost a little momentum as they were held to a goalless draw by Nottingham Forest, who dug deep to earn a valuable point in their fight for survival, Softfootball reports.
With earlier results going in their favour after Man City lost to arch rivals Manchester United 2-0 earlier today , Mikel Arteta's side arrived knowing a win would further strengthen their grip on first place. Forest, however, made it clear from the outset that they would not be overawed, pressing with intent and forcing Arsenal into a cautious opening. One of the hosts' brighter moments came when Nicolas Dominguez found space in the box, only for his effort to drift wide after a slight deflection.
Arsenal gradually grew into the contest, but clear chances were at a premium. Gabriel Martinelli came closest before the break, slicing a close-range attempt past the post, while neat build-up play involving Noni Madueke and Martin Zubimendi went unrewarded. Forest's compact shape and aggressive duels ensured the first half ended with little to separate the sides.
