A section of the Okaukuejo-Namutoni Road in Etosha National Park closed on February 1 as part of ongoing road upgrade works.
Namibias Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism confirmed the closure will allow for the upgrading of tourist gravel roads to low-volume seal roads from Okaukuejo to King Nehale Gate via the Halali detours to Namutoni.
Visitors travelling eastwards from Okaukuejo are advised to use the designated Gemsbokvlakte detour and then proceed onto a newly constructed bypass of approximately 38km where it crosses the main road and links to the existing Salvadore detour. Traffic will continue along the Salvadore detour until it reconnects with the main road approximately 47km from Okaukuejo.
