Eskom says there is no power outage at Diepkloof hostel in Soweto, but that electricity was disconnected due to non-payment. The clarification comes amid rising tensions, with residents complaining of a prolonged power cut in the area which is impacting daily lives.
The residents say they have had no electricity since Monday.
Eskoms Gauteng spokesperson Amanda Qithi says customers know who supplies them with electricity.
