The devastating fire at Karachi's Gul Plaza shopping centre has now claimed at least 67 lives, officials confirmed, as rescue teams continue to sift through the charred remains of the sprawling complex.
Families report that 77 people remain missing following the blaze, which erupted on Saturday evening in Pakistan's largest city, as per the BBC .
The 6 500-square-metre 70 000 sq ft shopping hub, home to around 1 200 shops across multiple floors, was engulfed rapidly, with flames taking more than 24 hours to bring under control. Investigators say the sheer scale of the destruction has slowed recovery operations, with authorities combing through debris for human remains. Some victims were found only as partial remains, though 15 people have already been formally identified, according to police.
