The Democratic Alliance DA in Tshwane says it is escalating the City of Tshwanes electricity crisis to the National Energy Regulator of South Africa NERSA, as large parts of the city remain without stable power.
DA Tshwane mayoral candidate Cilliers Brink says weeks-long outages, especially in the east of Pretoria, show the city is failing to meet its legal obligations.
The party is accusing the ANC-led multi-party coalition of diverting money away from electricity maintenance to fund water tankers and private security instead.
