The Democratic Alliances DA federal leadership have refused to be drawn into speculation about the possibility of Cape Town Mayor, Geordin Hill-Lewis, succeeding John Steenhuisen as party leader.
This comes as Hill-Lewis confirmed via social media posts that he had been approached by party members to stand, following Steenhuisens announcement that he will bow out.
The party has begun its local government election campaign by announcing eight mayoral candidates, in mostly rural areas in the Western Cape. In the social media post, Hill-Lewis says he will announce his intentions later this month.
