The City of Cape Town Disaster Risk Management Centre DRMC says registration of people affected by the Site five informal settlement fire at Du Noon are underway.
Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis earlier indicated that nearly one-thousand dwellings had been destroyed.
DRMC spokesperson, Charlotte Powell, says efforts to clear the fire site are underway and some residents have started rebuilding their structures. Powell says a building inspector has also arrived on site to check the integrity of the perimeter wall and formal dwellings.
