The City of Cape Town is facing a pressing challenge as water usage has soared to 1 073 million litres per day MLD over the past week, exceeding the set target by 98 MLD, reports Cape town Etc .

With dam storage levels currently at 60.1 and depleting at approximately 2 each week since December 2025, the urgency for responsible water use is paramount as the city braces for the next seasonal rainfall cycle.
