During their efforts to rid the streets of drugs and other crime generators in the early hours of Tuesday, Cape Town police arrested a 38-year-old foreign national upon discovering over R1 million in foreign and South African currency, reports Cape town Etc .

According to police spokesperson Captain Frederick van Wyk, members attached to the Provincial Operational Command Centre conducted an information-driven search in Table View when the discovery was made.

The members armed with information about drug dealings descended on the residence situated in Holly Crescent in Table View, where they ensued with a search, leading to the discovery, said van Wyk.

Not only did the members find the cash, but also a bag with bank cards belonging to various people. The occupants of the residence were unable to provide a valid reason for possessing the items, and the 38-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of suspected stolen property and conspiracy to commit cybercrime.

The suspected cybercriminal is expected to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Thursday, 15 May.
