Cape Town residents will gather in grief and solidarity on Monday evening to honour the life of 20-year-old Paige Bell, whose shocking death aboard a luxury yacht in the Bahamas sent ripples of heartbreak across South Africa and beyond.

A candlelight vigil will be held on Monday, 14 July, at Hillsong Church in Century City, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, to mark what would have been Paige's 21st birthday.

Though Paige and most of her loved ones are from Durban, friends and members of the Cape Town community are creating a space to remember the young stewardess, whose life was tragically cut short just 11 days before her milestone celebration.

Organisers of the vigil say the gathering is open to anyone who felt touched by Paige's story, whether personally connected or not. Attendees are invited to light a candle, bring flowers or photographs, and write messages of support to the Bell family. A table will be set up with cards for visitors to leave notes, share memories, or offer prayers, which will then be sent to her family back in Durban.

A QR code linking to a fundraiser set up to support the family will also be available at the event, with organisers encouraging donations from those who are able to assist.
