The Madlanga Commission has heard how South African Police Services Section Head for Quality Management, Brigadier Rachel Matjeng helped Vusimuzi Cat Matlala claim money for individuals who failed to attend their medical surveillance appointments.
Brigadier Matjeng has testified that she sent Matlala a code that would enable him to claim for the 140 non-arrivals. This is despite this being outside her scope of work.
Commissioner Sesi Baloyi has put it to Brigadier Matjeng that she used her position to advance Matlalas interests.
