The South African Weather Service SAWS is urging residents and visitors of the Western Cape to prepare for potentially dangerous weather conditions this weekend, as a cold front is set to sweep through the region, Cape town Etc reports.
The Level 2 impact-based warnings will be in effect for damaging waves and winds along the coastline starting from midnight on Saturday, 9 August 2025, until 11:59pm on Sunday, 10 August 2025.
Beginning Saturday morning, the system is forecast to bring with it westerly to southwesterly swells of between five and six metres alongside near gale to gale-force winds expected to reach 74kph.
Coastal towns including Cape Town, George, Mossel Bay, Overstrand and Bitou are likely to experience the brunt of these hazardous conditions.
