The Gauteng Department of Education has confirmed the tragic passing of a six-year-old Grade R learner from Letsatsing Primary Mine School in Carletonville, following a freak incident that happened on Friday 15 August 2025.
According to the department, the learner allegedly sustained serious injuries while she was boarding a scholar transport bus on Friday morning to go to school.
The child was rushed to Carletonville Hospital for medical attention however, she unfortunately passed away later that afternoon due to the seriousness of her injuries.
