The political implications of the South African Communist Partys SACP decision to contest the 2026 local elections independently have topped the agenda of the Special African National Congress ANC National Executive Committee NEC meeting in Boksburg East of Johannesburg.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of their one-day meeting, Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula says they failed to convince the SACP during their bilateral talks last Monday.
Earlier, the SACP said its decision was informed by the ANCs failure to commit to the reconfiguration of the alliance in over 22 years.
