Residents of an Amanzimtoti apartment complex, south of Durban, have expressed shock after a police shootout led to the death of Philangenkosi Makhanya, the main suspect in the murder of 30-year-old Olorato Mongale .
Philangenkosi Makhanya was killed in a shootout with the police. He is one of 3 people the police have been looking for in connection with the murder.
Makhanyas parents have been taken in for questioning and have since been released.
The fathers car has been linked to the murder, while the mother allegedly tipped Makhanya off.
The chairperson of the body corporate where the shooting took place, Denise Rajman, confirms that security protocols will be reviewed following the incident.
