President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Advocate Jan Lekgoa Mothibi as the new National Director of Public Prosecutions, replacing Advocate Shamila Batohi whose term is coming to an end.
The appointment will be effective from the 1 st of February 2026.
Adv. Mothibi, who is currently the Head of the Special Investigating Unit SIU, began his career as a public prosecutor in the Johannesburg and Soweto magistrates and regional courts.
