Democratic Alliance DA leader John Steenhuisen has cautioned against speculation following reports that he is quitting the partys leadership race.
The Sunday Times was among the first to report his alleged withdrawal on Tuesday 3 February, saying it comes amid leadership tensions.
The speculation may have been sparked by a terse DA media release earlier on Tuesday morning. It said Steenhuisen would address members of the media concerning matters of national importance and national interest.
