Zimbabwe is stepping up efforts to advance its digital transformation agenda following high-level talks aimed at strengthening international cooperation in information and communication technologies. The Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Tatenda Mavetera, held a meeting with Australia's Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Minoli Perera, focused on deepening ICT collaboration between the two countries.
Discussions centred on expanding cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies, with Zimbabwe outlining progress on key national initiatives. Among the highlights was the country's National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, which is scheduled to be launched in March by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The strategy is expected to guide the integration of AI across sectors and support innovation-driven economic development.
Australia signalled its readiness to share expertise and contribute to capacity building, particularly in AI and advanced digital technologies. The engagement reflects Zimbabwe's push to build international partnerships that can accelerate skills development, knowledge transfer and the adoption of modern digital solutions.
