zambia wins court bid to have former president lungu buried at home

The High Court in Pretoria has ruled in favour of the Zambian government to have the body of the late former President Edgar Lungu repatriated to his home country.

The former Zambian President died in June while receiving medical treatment for an undisclosed illness in South Africa.

He was 68 years old.

Lungus family wanted him to be buried in South Africa in a private ceremony, while the Zambian government wanted him to be buried in Embassy Park Lusaka.

Earlier, Adv Welgemoed for the family said that any argument stating that Lungu wanted to be buried at home should be dismissed.
