Zambia and Ethiopia have entered into a landmark Memorandum of Understanding MoU to collaborate on the implementation of digital identity systems, a move expected to boost access to essential services and strengthen governance.
During the signing ceremony, SMART Zambia Institute National Coordinator, Mr. Percy Chinyama, emphasized that digital identity is critical for today's economy, enabling citizens to access healthcare, education, banking, and social services, while also improving government transparency and accountability.
The agreement not only deepens bilateral relations between the two countries but also contributes to broader continental goals under the African Union's Agenda 2063, which calls for home-grown digital solutions to drive Africa's integration and development.
