Ian Wright, a former Arsenal player, has aimed a subtle dig at Mikel Artetas men after the clubs women team won the Womens UEFA Champions League trophy at the weekend.
Wright said Arsenal women's team saved the Premier League North London club from 'embarrassment' after their Champions League triumph.
Recall that a second half goal from Stina Blackstenius ensured Arsenal defeated Barcelona 1-0 at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon, Portugal, to lift the Champions League trophy on Saturday.
This comes after Arteta's side ended the season without a trophy this term as the womens Champion League trophy is the only silverware Arsenal won as a club this campaign.
When asked what the latest trophy means for the Gunners as a club, Wright told TNT Sports: It has saved the club.
