Wizz Air has applied for rights to operate flights between the UK and the US, after closing its Abu Dhabi base last year.
The airline's UK subsidiary is seeking approval from the US Department of Transportation for a foreign air carrier permit under the 2020 Air Transport Agreement between the two countries, known as the Open Skies Agreement.
According to the filing, the foreign air carrier permit will enable the airline to conduct foreign and charter flights for passenger, property, and mail, between a point or points in the UK and a point or points in the US.
