In a significant leadership change for the South African Police Service SAPS in the Western Cape, Major General Luyanda Damoyi has been officially appointed as the Acting Provincial Commissioner, effective from Thursday, Cape town Etc reports.
This transition follows the retirement of Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, under whom Damoyi served as Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing.
Western Cape Premier Alan Winde and Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Anroux Marais, have both welcomed Damoyis appointment with optimism, spotlighting his extensive experience and knowledge in law enforcement.
