The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals SPCA in the Western Cape says it is on high alert following an Orange Level 8 weather warning for parts of the province, from Sunday until Tuesday.
Spokesperson Belinda Abraham says the SPCAs first responders are already mobilising, with vehicles being loaded with animal carriers, blankets, food, and emergency supplies.
She says the organisation is working closely with disaster management teams and will be ready to respond from the Joint Operations Centre if flooding worsens.
