Police across the Western Cape conducted a series of targeted operations over the weekend, leading to multiple arrests for illegal firearms and drug possession.
The arrests form part of ongoing efforts to combat gang violence and drug-related crimes in high-risk areas, as accounted for by the South African Police Service .
Firearms recovered in separate incidents-
In Steenberg, officers from the Crime Prevention Unit arrested a 19-year-old male after he was found with a 9mm pistol and ammunition. Police reports indicate the suspect attempted to flee when approached.

In Hanover Park, Philippi SAPS members detained a 25-year-old man carrying a .38 Special revolver during a stop-and-search operation.

The Maitland Flying Squad intercepted four suspects in Heideveld after hearing gunshots. A 9mm pistol was recovered from their vehicle.
