The Western Cape education department estimates they will be able to provide over 35,000 teaching posts for 2026, with schools expected to receive their staff establishments tomorrow.
It says the Basket of Posts allocation for 2025 will remain unchanged next year after consultations with unions and school governing bodies.
Provincial Education Minister, David Maynier, says while this protects critical services like nutrition, transport and special needs support, growing learner numbers and budget uncertainty continue to place strain on schools.
