The National Council of SPCAs NSPCA rejects a memorandum lodged with the Presidency by the Amaphisi Hunters' Association AHA that seeks the legalisation of hunting with dogs and commercial greyhound racing.
The NSPCA says the proposals would reopen a long-closed chapter of animal exploitation and urges immediate action to stop any legislative change.
Dog racing has been illegal in South Africa for decades and courts, reviews and government statements have repeatedly recognised serious welfare and social concerns.
