The South African Weather Service SAWS has issued a Yellow level 2 warning for damaging winds, cautioning residents and holidaymakers along parts of the Western Cape and Namaqua coast to prepare for strong to near-gale force conditions this weekend, reports Cape town Etc .
According to SAWS , the warning is valid from Saturday, 20 December, at midnight until 11:59pm on Sunday, 21 December, and is driven by an Atlantic high-pressure system positioned to the south-west of the country, combined with a trough over the interior.
This weather pattern is expected to create a tight pressure gradient along the coast.
