The South African Weather Service SAWS has issued a warning that severe thunderstorms are expected over western KwaZulu-Natal, the Midlands and the north of the province on Monday.
It stretches from Kokstad in the south to Newcastle in the west, and to Pongola, and the Umkhanyakhude District in the north.
Cooperative Governance Department Spokesperson, Senzelwe Mzila, says more than 50 millimetres of rain are expected in these parts, which can lead to flooding, mudslides, damaging winds, excessive lightning and hail.
