Vodacom has expanded its education-focused investment programme with the unveiling of Asibemunye Secondary School in Howick, KwaZulu-Natal, as its latest "School of Excellence." The launch was held alongside KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli and Vodacom South Africa CEO Sitho Mdlalose.
The R1.4 million investment marks the third School of Excellence launched by Vodacom in 2026, bringing the total network to 40 schools supporting approximately 30,000 learners across South Africa. Asibemunye Secondary School now joins this growing national programme aimed at improving digital access and learning outcomes in underserved communities.
Speaking at the launch, Sitho Mdlalose told learners: "Excellence in education is not a privilege reserved for a few, but a right for all of you." He emphasised that the initiative goes beyond infrastructure, with the deployment of ICT coordinators and psychosocial support designed to help learners fully benefit from digital learning tools and address barriers to education.
