Vienna is planning to increase its tourist tax for overnight stays, starting December 1, ahead of the Christmas holidays.
The levy is expected to jump from 3,2 to 8,5 of the room cost per night. The city expects the figures will raise an extra 81 million R1,6 billion each year.
Viennas Finance City Councillor, Barbara Novak , attributed the increase to the rising cost of the citys infrastructure as well as other things.
