According to the BBC who cited a US official, both sides have now stepped back from further immediate military action around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil and gas shipments. The official, speaking to CBS News, as relayed by the BBC, said commercial vessels would once again be able to pass through the waterway freely, while also confirming that diplomatic efforts to end the wider conflict would continue.
Iran has not yet publicly confirmed the reported agreement.
