Two people have died and more than ten others injured after lightning struck the Dertig Sports Ground in Moretele in the North West .
The incident happened on Saturday night during the annual Mphebatho Troop Festival . Moretele Municipal Mayor, George Manyike says the injured were taken to health facilities.
"It just happened that the rain started to fall and then lightning struck the place. It was very much unfortunate when we checked most of the participants who were under the tent were affected by the lightning. They were immediately taken to Mathibestad Clinic where, as I speak now, the doctor has just confirmed that two of those community members passed on and then others are still getting assistance."
